The event brought together government representatives from Central Asian, South Caucasus, Eastern European and EU countries, as well as experts from international organizations such as the UNECE, World Customs Organization, and European Commission.
International Road Transport Union (IRU) associations from across the CIS region and beyond were represented.
Participants discussed issues related to border-crossing facilitation, while taking into account security aspects, customs best practices and the promotion of integrated border management measures. In this respect, and following a number of OSCE-UNECE capacity-building seminars on the UNECE's International Convention on the Harmonization of Frontier Controls of Goods, a dialogue on the forthcoming Annex 8 of the convention was held.
