About
The event will bring together 40 participants, around seven from each of the five Central Asian countries. At least half of the participants will be mid-level customs officials, but representatives from the private sector, business associations, donor agencies and regional organizations will also attend.
The regional conference will be followed, on 27 July 2007, by an Expert Meeting on Progress made with regard to the Implementation of the 2003 Almaty Programme of Action (APA). Selected customs, transport and trade officials from the region have been invited to present their policies and identify further gaps and needs for improvement.
The recommendations and conclusions of both meetings will be presented at a high level OSCE conference on developing trans-Asian and Eurasian transit transport co-operation. It will be held in Dushanbe on 23 and 24 October 2007 in co-operation with the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and the Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS).
