Conference on sharing best practices and lessons learned in preventing corruption in South-Eastern Europe, Tirana, 2-3 April 2007

The Office of the Co-ordinator of OSCE Economic and Environmental Activities, in co-operation with the OSCE Presence in Albania and the Stability Pact Anti-corruption Initiative, and with participation from the Council of Europe and USAID, will host a regional conference in Tirana on best practices and initiatives in the fight against corruption. The event will be held under the framework of the United Nations Convention against Corruption.
Participants from Albania, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Moldova, Romania, Serbia and UNMIK (Kosovo) will share experiences and form working groups to discuss ways through which to harmonize their national legislation with the standards set forth by the UN Convention. (The UN Convention against Corruption was adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations in October 2003 and came into force in December 2005. So far, it has been signed by 140 countries and ratified by 88.)
