The seminar on "Strengthening the OSCE's Role in the Realm of Environment and Security" highlighted the Organization's role in developing a broad understanding on various aspects of environmental issues and in highlighting the benefits of proper policies.
It was agreed that the OSCE should work to raise awareness, develop civil society and encourage local and NGO communities to address environmental issues.
The seminar stressed that the Organization has an important role to play in strengthening civil society and economic development in the region through trans-border co-operation on environmental issues. It was also agreed that international organizations need to improve co-operation to strengthen their efforts and avoid unnecessary duplication.
