VIENNA, 9 September 1999 - On Monday, 20 September, the 1999 OSCE Review Conference will open at the Hofburg Congress Centre in Vienna. The main purpose of the meeting is to review the entire range of OSCE activities, including implementation of OSCE commitments, in preparation of the OSCE Istanbul Summit (18-19 November). The Review Conference will continue in Istanbul 8 - 10 November and will be followed by the Summit Preparation Meeting.

Apart from representatives of OSCE participating States, the OSCE's Partners for Co-operation (Japan and the Republic of Korea) and Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation (Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia), participants will include representatives of other International Organizations (among others the UN, ICRC, Council of Europe) as well as NGOs from across the OSCE region.

There will be a press briefing on Monday morning before the formal opening of the Review Conference. Interested media representatives are also invited to attend the opening session of the meeting, which starts at 10:00.
