Some 175 representatives from governments, the private sector and international and non-governmental organizations met in Paris at the joint OSCE-OECD conference on promoting transparency in government.
Recognizing that corruption and organized crime are significant factors preventing the development of strong democracies and healthy market economies, they discussed ways to fight corruption and organized crime, to promote good governance and transparency in government and to mobilize civil society to join these efforts. They focused on national as well as international measures that have been or can be taken.
