The High-level Conference on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, Especially Women and Children: Prevention - Protection - Prosecution was held on 17 March 2006 in the Neuer Saal at the Hofburg in Vienna, Austria.
The conference was co-organized by the OSCE Special Representative on Combating Trafficking in Human Beings and the Austrian Presidency of the European Union (EU).
The conference concluded an EU AGIS Project entitled "Comprehensive training for law enforcement authorities responsible for combating trafficking in children/minors", implemented by the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior in co-operation with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Vienna.
By training more than 120 high-level experts from close to 40 EU and non-EU member countries, the project aimed at providing law enforcement authorities dealing with child victims of trafficking with specific skills and fostering regional and transnational co-operation among the participating countries.
