23 November 2010
ASTANA, 23 November 2010 - In relation to the aggravation of the situation in the Yellow Sea and the exchange of artillery fire between the Korean People's Democratic Republic and the Republic of Korea, which resulted in casualties, the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Kazakhstan's Foreign Minister and Secretary of State Kanat Saudabayev, made the following statement:
"The OSCE Chairmanship is deeply concerned about the developments in the Yellow Sea, and calls on the parties to refrain from steps that could complicate the situation further and lead to the escalation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula. The differences which exist between the parties should be settled at the negotiating table solely by peaceful means."
