OSCE Permanent Council Chair concludes visit to Kyrgyzstan, offers support
BISHKEK, 29 June 2010 - Ambassador of Kazakhstan and Chairperson of the OSCE Permanent Council Kairat Abdrakhmanov concluded a three-day visit to Kyrgyzstan today.
During his visit he met Roza Otunbayeva, Kyrgyzstan's President of the interim government, Acting Foreign Minister Ruslan Kazakbayev, Deputy Head of the interim government, Omurbek Tekebayev and the Acting Minister of Finance Temir Sariyev, as well as representatives of civil society, the diplomatic community and international organizations including the UN Special Representative Miroslav Jenca.
"The OSCE remains committed to supporting Kyrgyzstan in its goals of developing a vibrant, democratic country and achieving national reconciliation," said Abdrakhmanov.
Discussions focused on enhancing OSCE assistance to the country, the recent referendum, future constitutional developments and the humanitarian and security situation. Abdrakhmanov was accompanied by representatives of the OSCE Troika, which includes the previous and incoming Chairmanships of Greece and Lithuania.
