Chairman-in-Office visits the Caucasus

OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Polish Foreign Minister Bronislaw Geremek, made a four-day trip to Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan between 23 and 26 November, which led to the agreement to open OSCE offices in Yerevan (Armenia) and Baku (Azerbaijan).
During his visit, memoranda of understanding were signed between the OSCE and all three Governments with the aim of strengthening co-operation especially in the field of human rights.
In Georgia, Geremek met with President Eduard Shevardnadze and other high-level officials to discuss the situation in the country as a whole, and South Ossetia and Abkhazia in particular.
