OSCE appoints special co-ordinator for Croatian presidential elections
COPENHAGEN 10 June 1997
COPENHAGEN, 10 June 1997 - The Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE, Danish Foreign Minister Niels Helveg Petersen has appointed former U.S. Senator Paul Simon as the OSCE Special Co-ordinator for the monitoring of the Croatian Presidential elections. The elections are scheduled for 15 June.
Senator Simon will be expected to issue a consolidated final statement based on the monitoring reports of the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and other international observers.
Around 120 international election observers will monitor the election for the ODIHR, covering all major towns and all counties in the country.
