Informal meeting on Transdniestran settlement process fruitful, OSCE Chairman's envoy says

VIENNA, 14 March 2008 - OSCE Chairmanship efforts to restart negotiations on the Transdniestran settlement process have begun with fruitful discussions held during informal consultations, the OSCE Chairman-in-Office's special envoy, Ambassador Heikki Talvitie, said today.
"A fruitful exchange of views about confidence-building measures and possibilities to resume the negotiation process took place yesterday in Vienna," he said.
The informal consultations were held in the 3+2 format, which includes representatives of the mediators - the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the OSCE - as well as the European Union and the United States as observers.
