OSCE Chairperson Dačić and Secretary General Zannier condemn horrific terrorist attack in Tunisia

BELGRADE, 18 March 2015 – The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Serbia’s Foreign Minister Ivica Dačić, and the Secretary General Lamberto Zannier, condemned the horrific terrorist attack in Tunis today, and expressed their deepest condolences to the families and relatives of the victims.

“The attack in Tunis today highlights yet again that the security of OSCE participating States is closely linked with that of their Mediterranean Partners for Co-operation,” said Dačić. “Terrorism strikes indiscriminately, and we must work together, we must redouble our efforts to combat this plague more vigorously while upholding human rights and the rule of law.”

Dačić and Zannier jointly called for solidarity and a broad mobilization of all sectors in society to prevent and combat terrorism. “Countering terrorism requires a comprehensive approach and everybody has a stake in addressing the deeper roots of the problem, fostering tolerance and respect for diversity,” said Zannier.

Tunisia, as an OSCE Partner for Co-operation, is engaged with the Organization on a variety of issues, including counter-terrorism, border security and management, and encouraging greater political participation, among many others.
