Lithuania

Lithuania signed the Helsinki Final Act in 1991 after having declared independence from the Soviet Union in 1990. The country assumed the OSCE Chairpersonship 20 years later in 2011. Lithuania is represented by a Permanent Delegation to the OSCE and to the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

Lithuania as OSCE Chair 2011

Every year, the political leadership of the OSCE rotates among the Organization's participating States. The country taking over the OSCE Chair co-ordinates activities and provides political direction throughout that year.
