OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine trains social service providers on helping victims of human trafficking and domestic violence

The first of two training seminars to improve the social services provided to victims of human trafficking and domestic violence began in Kyiv on 28 November 2011 with support from the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine (PCU).

The training sessions bring together representatives of regional Departments for Family, Youth and Sports, heads of the regional State Social services for Family, Children and Youth as well as heads of regional institutions providing social assistance to vulnerable categories, including victims of human trafficking and domestic violence.

The training programme focuses on approaches in organizing social work with victims, provision of social assistance to them, the role of governmental and non-governmental actors in this process as well as on the recently approved anti-trafficking legislation.

The training is organized within projects aimed at combating trafficking in human beings and domestic violence in Ukraine that the PCU implements in co-operation with Ukrainian governmental and non-governmental partners.
