Biography

Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu (Türkiye) is the eighth OSCE Secretary General, appointed in December 2024.

Prior to his appointment, Sinirlioğlu served as the Permanent Representative of Türkiye to the United Nations (UN) from 2016 to 2023. In 2023, he was also appointed by UN Secretary-General António Guterres as the UN Special Co-ordinator for the Independent Assessment mandated by UN Security Council Resolution 2679 (2023).

He has also held the positions of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye in the interim government of 2015, and of Permanent Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye from 2015 to 2016 and 2009 to 2015.

Sinirlioğlu has a PhD from the School of Political Science and International Relations at Boğaziçi University in Istanbul and a Bachelor’s degree from the Political Science Faculty of Ankara University.
