The OSCE Programme Office in Astana (the Office), with the support of the OSCE’s Conflict Prevention Centre Forum for Security Co-operation Support Section (FSC), and in close co-operation with the Center for Arms Control and Inspection Support of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Kazakhstan, successfully concluded the Ammunition Storage and Surveillance Course (ASSC) on 9 October in Almaty.

On 6 October 2025, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana (the Office), in co-operation with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the International Water Assessment Centre (IWAC), launched a five-day training seminar for nation-wide representatives of basin inspections on the provisions of the new Water Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan and related draft laws.

On 25-26 September 2025, Astana hosted the international conference “Combating Transnational Cybercrime: Current Trends and Directions for Counteraction”. The event was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana (the Office) in co-operation with the Ministry of Interior of Kazakhstan, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).

On 11 September 2025, the international Central Asian Dialogue Platform titled “Women in Justice: Professional Development through Association” was held in Astana. The event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of Kazakhstan and organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, in co-operation with the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan.

From 15 to 19 September 2025, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, OSCE Centre in Ashgabat, OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek, OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe, OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan, in partnership with the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC) and the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, launched the 15th Central Asian Leadership Programme (CALP) on Environment for Sustainable Development. The programme gathered a new generation of young leaders dedicated to advancing environmental sustainability and co-operation in the region.

On 4 August 2025, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, in collaboration with the Asset Recovery Committee under the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, organized a training workshop for officers of the Committee. The event focused on the application and enhancement of the civil confiscation mechanism.
OSCE and the Commission of Human Rights under the President of Kazakhstan strengthen Legal Culture in Urban and Rural Areas of Kazakhstan

In 2025, the OSCE Programme Office in Astana completed a series of three-day training seminars in four regions of Kazakhstan, respectively, in co-operation with the Commission of Human Rights under the President of Kazakhstan, the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the EU-funded Border Management Programme in Central Asia (BOMCA). The aim of the events was to raise awareness among representatives of local authorities, law enforcement, social services, civil society, small and medium-sized businesses, and academia about national and international mechanisms for the protection of human rights in both regional centres and rural areas of Kazakhstan.
