ERGNETI, 22 February 2013 – Today, on 22 February, the 31st meeting of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism (IPRM) was held in Ergneti, co-facilitated by the Head of the EU Monitoring Mission Ambassador Tyszkiewicz and the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for conflicts Ambassador Deshchytsia.
The participants were encouraged by a decrease in the number of incidents compared to previous periods.
The concerns of some speakers regarding the safety and movement of inhabitants in Didi Khurvaleti and Zardiantkari were discussed. The co-facilitators put forward a proposal to undertake a joint check on the spot.
The participants reiterated their commitment to make the best possible use of the hotline. They also agreed to ensure the safety of farmers during the forthcoming agricultural works throughout the spring period.
The readiness to facilitate minor repair works in the field of potable water in the area of Sameba and Knolevi was expressed by all participants.
The meeting welcomed the recent release of three ethnic Ossetians from Georgian prisons under the ongoing amnesty, as well as ongoing efforts to address the issue of missing persons.
It was agreed that the next meeting of the Ergneti IPRM will be held on 18 March 2013.
