OSCE provides server equipment to strengthen Ukraine’s border security and counter illicit weapons trafficking

In August 2026, the OSCE provided the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine (SBGS) with server equipment to strengthen its criminal analysis and operative-search activities against illicit trafficking in firearms and other cross-border threats.

The donated equipment will enhance the capacity of SBGS criminal analysis units to process, store and exchange information, ensuring more reliable and resilient operative-search measures in line with the law enforcement mandate of the agency. This assistance package builds directly on the OSCE’s earlier support to SBGS through the provision of specialized software and relevant training. 

“Criminal networks constantly adapt their methods, and our analytical capabilities must evolve for adequate response. The analytical software provided by the OSCE previously gave our specialists powerful tools, and the server infrastructure we are receiving now will allow us to use those tools more effectively and at a greater scale. Together, this support will amplify our ability to identify links, detect patterns, and anticipate criminal threats, helping us turn information into actionable intelligence and more effectively disrupt organized cross-border crime,” said a representative of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine during the handover event.

The procurement and donation of the equipment were carried out under the OSCE extrabudgetary project “In Support of Strengthening Capacities of Ukrainian Authorities in Preventing and Combating Illicit Trafficking in Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives in All Its Aspects”, funded by the European Union, Finland, France, Germany, and Poland.
