OSCE Office in Baku / OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Baku (closed)

The OSCE Office in Baku was established in 1999 and launched its operations in July 2000. It was transformed into the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Baku in 2014, whose mandate expired on 31 December 2015.

Our work

The Office's thematic and programmatic activities

The mandate of the Office in Baku included the following elements:

  • promote the implementation of the OSCE principles and commitments as well as the co-operation of the Republic of Azerbaijan within the OSCE framework, in all OSCE dimensions, including human, political, economic and environmental aspects of security and stability;
  • facilitate contacts, co-ordinate activities and promote information exchange with the Chairman-in-Office and other OSCE institutions as well as co-operation with international organisations and institutions;
  • establish and maintain contacts with local authorities, universities, research institutions and NGONGO
    non-governmental organization
    ’s and assist in arranging events with OSCE participation; and
  • perform other tasks deemed appropriate by the Chairman-in-Office or other OSCE institutions and agreed on between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the OSCE.

The mandate of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Baku included the following elements:

  • supporting co-operation between the Government of Azerbaijan, and the OSCE and its institutions aimed at implementing OSCE principles and commitments;
  • planning and implementing projects between the relevant authorities of Azerbaijan, and the OSCE and its institutions covering all three dimensions of the OSCE’s comprehensive security concept, and taking into account the needs and priorities of the Government of Azerbaijan;
  • maintaining contacts with governmental and non-governmental bodies, local authorities, universities, research institutions and NGOs; and
  • performing other tasks deemed appropriate by the Chairperson-in-Office or other OSCE institutions and agreed upon between the Government of Azerbaijan and the OSCE.
