About

This event is organized in close co-operation with the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and with the support of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek and other field operations in the region.

The two-day regional workshop will be held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Participants will include experts from the UNODC and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and representatives from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, the Russian Federation, the United States, Mongolia and China.

Discussions will focus on international legal instruments, standards, national legislation and practical challenges related to improving transnational co-operation between judges, prosecutors and the police.

The workshop has three main purposes:

  • establishing personal links among relevant law enforcement and judicial authorities dealing with mutual assistance in the states affected by Afghan heroin trafficking;
  • disseminating information about the specific legal and procedural requirements of each country; and
  • identifying problems connected with internal and transnational co-operation.
