About

The conference was preceded by a special event organized by the Belgian OSCE Chairmanship: Public-private partnerships in combating trafficking in human beings (see link on the right for more details of the special event).

This conference addressed practical issues in the implementation of international legal instruments and national legislation in prosecuting cases of trafficking for labour exploitation and in ensuring legal redress for victims. The agenda included presentations of concrete examples of addressing human trafficking for labour exploitation, forced and bonded labour across the OSCE region, drawing upon current experiences in investigation, prosecution and access to justice of trafficked persons.

The conference brought together governmental anti-trafficking co-ordinators, public officials (judges, prosecutors, lawyers, law enforcement agents, and labour inspectors), as well as NGOs and national experts of all the 56 OSCE participating States and Partners for Co-operation. Participants contributed by sharing their experiences based on accounts of the situation in their countries.
