Forum for Security Co-operation adopts document on non-proliferation and politico-military code of conduct

In the document on non-proliferation, CSCECSCE
Conference on Security and Co-operation in Europe participating States agreed that the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, and missiles to deliver them, poses a threat to international peace, security and stability. They affirmed the following commitments:

• to prevent the proliferation of nuclear weapons
• to prevent the acquisition, development, production, stockpiling and use of chemical and biological weapons
• to control the transfer of missiles capable of delivering weapons of mass destruction and their components and technology

The code of conduct deals with democratic control of the military and security forces, international humanitarian law and principles governing the use of force, including in civil conflicts.
