Former Bulgarian President to travel to Moldova as Special Envoy of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office

SOFIA, 8 September 2004 - As part of its ongoing effort to encourage negotiations over the Transdniestrian problems, the Bulgarian OSCE Chairmanship has announced that a Special Envoy will travel to Moldova.

The former Bulgarian President, Petar Stoyanov (from 1997 to 2002), will leave Sofia today for Moldova at the request of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Solomon Passy.

President Stoyanov will become acquainted with the situation on the ground in view of the recent problems and will urge resumption of negotiations.
