About

The Conference will offer the opportunity to take stock of progress made, outline remaining challenges, identify practical solutions and suggest concrete steps to be taken by governments, in efforts to end statelessness in the South-Eastern Europe region by 2024.

The Conference will not only explore the achievements made within the framework of the #IBelong Campaign, but also look beyond 2024, i.e. the Global Alliance to End Statelessness, a new multistakeholder alliance that builds upon the Campaign.

The Conference will help authorities in South-Eastern Europe to establish a solid institutional ground for actions towards confirmation of nationality through access to civil documentation, prevention of statelessness and protection of stateless persons.

The Event will consist of three sessions. The first one will provide a platform for discussions on joint efforts to ensure access to civil documentation and prevent statelessness in South-Eastern Europe. The second session will be dedicated to the progress made and remaining challenges in ensuring access to civil documentation and addressing statelessness in the region. The third session will address the way forward: ending statelessness in South-Eastern Europe by 2024.
