Parties in Chechnya conflict agree to talks under OSCE auspices

VIENNA, 22 May 1995 - On the basis of an agreement arrived at through prior consultations, the Chairman-in-Office of the OSCE (Hungarian Foreign Minister Laszlo Kovacs) has officially proposed the holding of talks between parties involved in the crisis in Chechnya, with the view of reaching a peaceful settlement of this crisis.
On behalf of the Chairman-in-Office, the Head of the OSCE Assistance Group to Chechnya issued an official invitation on 21 May to the representatives of the Federal Authorities, of the Committee of National Accord and of Mr. Dudayev. All parties accepted the invitation.
The Chairman-in-Office has invited representatives of the above-mentioned parties to participate in these talks starting on 25 May in Grozny at the OSCE Mission offices.
All parties accepted that these talks will be held under the auspices and with the participation of the OSCE.
