Regional arms negotiations resume in Vienna today

VIENNA, 6 September 1999 - Negotiations under Article V of the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina (Dayton/Paris Accords) resumed in Vienna today. The objective of the negotiations, which deal with arms control, is to find lasting solutions for the stabilization of South-Eastern Europe.
The 20 States participating in the negotiations are meeting under the aegis of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe. Article V negotiations were suspended temporarily in March 1999 due to the situation in Kosovo.
The states participating in the negotiations are Albania, Germany, United States of America, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Spain, France, United Kingdom, Greece, Hungary, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Netherlands, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Turkey and Federal Republic of Yugoslavia.
