OSCE Chairman's envoy heads to Moldova for meetings on Transdniestria problem

MADRID, 23 April 2007 - Ambassador Jose Pons, the Spanish Foreign Ministry's Director General for Europe and North America, was travelling to Moldova today to discuss the Transdniestrian problem.
He travels on the instructions of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos.
The Ambassador's schedule includes meetings in Chisinau and Tiraspol with members of the Moldovan Government and with the Transdniestrian negotiator.
Ambassador Jose Pons will discuss the situation with the sides and he will underscoring underscore the commitment of the Spanish OSCE Chairmanship to facilitate meetings and contacts between them to work jointly to reach a solution.
He will also maintain contacts with other mediators and observers involved in the negotiating process.
