About

The year 2020 has been marked by a rapid adaptation to unprecedented challenges. The COVID-19 pandemic impacted nations and significantly disrupted the work of companies and international organizations. The pandemic has accelerated the world’s transition to an ICT-enabled lifestyle, where commerce, education, work and governmental functions have mostly moved online.

Parallel to this, the increased shift to online activities has brought with it new challenges to critical infrastructures and the essential services we rely on, reminding us how important it is to protect them, particularly the healthcare sector.

Meanwhile, international diplomatic efforts continue to seek new ways the international community can tackle these challenges.

In this spirit, Albania’s 2020 OSCE Chairmanship will gather leading and diverse stakeholders on cyber/ICT security to discuss how strengthened co-operation between them can increase the resilience and stability of the cyber/ICT environment.

Participants will include senior government representatives, heads and representatives of relevant agencies, cyber/ICT security experts, representatives of international and regional organizations as well as of the private and non-governmental sectors.

The conference will focus on the following topics

  • Sharing views from various non-governmental stakeholders on global ICT developments;
  • Governmental approaches to cyber/ICT security in the OSCE area;
  • The ongoing implementation of OSCE confidence-building measures on cyber/ICT security as presented by select participating States;
  • Furthering co-operation on cyber/ICT security with OSCE Partner states;
  • How gender equality can positively impact cyber/ICT security.

Participants will also have the opportunity to hear updates on the latest developments in the two UN Working Groups dealing with cyber/ICT security-related topics in the context of international security.
