Privacy notice

The OSCE is committed to safeguarding your privacy and the security of your information. This notice explains how we collect, use, retain, and disclose personal data when you access OSCE websites or use OSCE online services. It also outlines your rights under the OSCE’s Personal Data Protection policies.

When you access OSCE websites, certain technical information may be collected automatically.  This may include your IP address, approximate geographical location, pages visited, browser or device type, and the time spent on our pages.  Some of this information may constitute personal data under OSCE rules.  Where feasible, such technical data is aggregated or anonymised for statistical, operational, and security purposes.

If you choose to submit personal data through OSCE online services (for example newsletter subscriptions, registration forms, or requests for information), the OSCE will process that information for the purpose of providing the requested service and for related administrative and security needs.  Personal data may include your name, contact details or other information you voluntarily provide.

Legal bases for processing

The OSCE processes personal data when necessary to carry out its mandate and functions, operate and secure its websites, provide online services at your request, comply with applicable obligations, protect vital interests, or ensure the safety and security of OSCE operations and information systems.  Where appropriate, processing may also be based on your consent.

How we use your information

The OSCE may use personal data for the following purposes: providing and improving website functionality; ensuring secure and uninterrupted operations; responding to user requests; protecting OSCE rights, property, personnel, and systems; and detecting or addressing technical or security issues.  

Access, preservation, or disclosure of personal data is carried out only where necessary and proportionate for these purposes and in accordance with OSCE Data Protection policies.

Retention

Personal data is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes described in this notice and in accordance with OSCE records management policies.  Afterwards, data is anonymised, deleted, or archived as appropriate.

Your rights

In accordance with OSCE data protection policies, you may request access to the personal data the OSCE holds about you and request correction or deletion where appropriate.  These rights are subject to certain limitations.
