2nd Summer School for Law Students from Ukrainian Universities: “Rule of Law and Constitutionalism”

Prominent academics in the field of Ukraine's constitutional law will be invited to deliver a series of lectures on the doctrine of constitutionalism, as well as on the experience of its implementation in both legislative and judicial practice. Participants at the summer school will learn how to analyse and interpret constitutional provisions, as well as prescriptions of international law for clear comprehension of core constitutional values.

During the summer school, the following issues will be discussed: (1) rule of law and the democratic constitutional state; (2) processes of revision and change of constitutions in democratic states; (3) democratic legitimacy and issues of implementation of constitutional provisions in practice; (4) human rights as a legitimate tool to limit the powers of the state; and (5) human rights protection in the Constitutional Court of Ukraine and the European Court of Human Rights.

The summer school will be held as part of the PCU Project "Fostering the Rule of Law and Human Rights in Ukraine’s Legislative Practice".
