Lithuania
Lithuania signed the Helsinki Final Act in 1991 after independence from the Soviet Union. The country assumed the OSCE Chairpersonship 20 years later in 2011. Lithuania is represented by a Permanent Representation to the OSCE in Vienna.

Every year, the political leadership of the OSCE rotates among the Organization's participating States. The country taking over the OSCE Chair co-ordinates activities and provides political direction throughout that year.
