OSCE Chairperson, Secretary General meet to discuss preparations for Vilnius Ministerial Council

The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis, and OSCE Secretary General Lamberto Zannier met in Vilnius on 19 September 2011 to discuss developments in the OSCE area and priorities for the forthcoming Ministerial Council in Vilnius on 6 and 7 December.
The Vilnius Ministerial Council will be the first high-level meeting of the 56 OSCE participating States since the OSCE Summit in Astana last December.
“We are confident that the Vilnius Ministerial Council will bring forward the spirit of the Astana Summit and contribute to the creation of a free, democratic, common and indivisible Euro-Atlantic and Eurasian security community,” said Ažubalis. “Urgent security challenges, from unresolved conflicts and terrorism to cyber security and developments in North Africa and the Middle East, concern all our States. The OSCE offers a unique set of tools for addressing these challenges, and the Vilnius Ministerial Council represents a critical opportunity to translate this vision into practice."
