Goal 9: Industry, innovation and infrastructure
Build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization and foster innovation
Economic co-operation among OSCE participating States is an essential component of the OSCE’s comprehensive approach to security. Investments in efficient, secure and sustainable infrastructure – transport, irrigation, energy and information and communication technology – are crucial to achieving sustainable development, ensuring growth in productivity and incomes, improving health and education and empowering communities in many countries.
The OSCE supports OSCE participating States in raising the resilience of critical energy networks by better protecting them from natural and man-made disasters and cyber risks.
The OSCE organizes conferences and workshops on reducing barriers to economic exchange and promoting economic ties, as an instrument to reduce confrontation, build confidence, generate synergies and enhance co-operation between countries. The Organization also fosters innovation among small and start-up businesses, for example through training provided to women entrepreneurs and through youth scholarshipsSupporting OSCE participating States to join the International Civil Aviation Organization’s Public Key Directory (ICAO PKD) to improve e-Passport Security
