Legal review of Kazakhstan’s "The Rules of Access for Visitors to the Premises of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Local Courts of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Department of Court Maintenance at the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Staff of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan) and Its Local Departments". In the course of 2016, the OSCE Mission to Skopje implemented the project “Enhancing the independence, transparency and efficiency of the judiciary through trial monitoring together with the Coalition “All for Fair Trials”, a network of 14 citizen associations monitoring criminal trials before competent courts in all four appellate regions in the country. The trial monitoring was specifically focused on the application of the new Law on Criminal Procedure in the basic courts and it resulted in the analysis presented hereby which, besides providing an insight into the implementation of the new Law, also offers recommendations for future activities and reforms aimed at enhancing the capacities of the judicial system in the country which, in turn, would lead to increased public trust in the legal system.
