This newsletter provides a brief overview of efforts of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Ukraine to support ongoing reforms, promote dialogue and help the country meet crisis-related challenges. Organizing elections and referenda is indisputably a challenging task. Bodies in charge of administering elections and referenda (EMBs) have the demanding function of ensuring that many complex election- and referenda-related processes are managed efficiently, impartially and transparently. The work of the EMBs has a direct impact on the quality and integrity of electoral and referendum processes and is one of the keys to ensuring the rights of voters and contestants. The EMBs are therefore one of the main guardians of democratic elections, and their activities are central to fostering public confidence.

The handbook highlights the complex implications of statelessness for individuals, states and societies, with good practices and recommendations aiming to increase engagement and progress in addressing this phenomenon by OSCE participating States. The book was jointly developed by the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) and UNHCR.

The Mission supports BiH in efforts aimed at improving and harmonizing laws and practices with international human rights standards in the fields of freedom of peaceful assembly and association, freedom of expression/media, and freedom of religion or belief.

In June 2017, ODIHR started a new project to support the follow-up of electoral recommendations in the Western Balkans. This three-year project supports election-management bodies and related institutions in the region in their efforts to follow up on election observation recommendations in areas

In co-operation with the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, the OSCE Mission in Serbia supported a second research exploring citizens' perceptions of personal data protection. The research was conducted in April and May 2023 and included 1211 respondents from Serbia.

This volume is arranged thematically according to the main issues related to the human dimension. It is intended for use by government officials and civil society organizations, academics, students, and practitioners alike.
