The seminar on "Strengthening the OSCE's Role in the Realm of Environment and Security" highlighted the Organization's role in developing a broad understanding on various aspects of environmental issues and in highlighting the benefits of proper policies.

The OSCE-Japan conference on security in Central Asia followed a number of consultations on the region under the 2000 Austrian OSCE Chairmanship. It marked the first time that such a conference that had taken place with an Asian Partner for Co-operation.
OSCE releases comprehensive reports on human rights violations in Kosovo
The OSCE released two reports analyzing the human rights findings of the Kosovo Verification Mission (October 1998 to June 1999) and the Mission in Kosovo (June to October 1999), compiled from thousands of interviews and hundreds of documents.
The Ministerial Council is the central decision-making and governing body of the OSCE. The meeting, held annually, provides the Foreign Ministers of the 57 OSCE participating States an opportunity to review and assess the Organization’s activities and strengthen the dialogue on security issues in the OSCE area.

Adopted by the Forum for Security Co-operation, the Document on Small Arms and Light Weapons (SALW) sets concrete norms, principles and measures for participating States on the SALW issue including information exchange on the export and import of weapons.
