Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan supports fight against narcotics trade
TASHKENT, 1 February 2012 – Combating the illicit traffic of drugs was the focus of an OSCE-organized workshop for regional experts from Uzbekistan’s National Information and Analytical Center on Drug Circulation held today in Tashkent.
The workshop brought together 14 experts from all provinces of Uzbekistan in charge of implementing a country-wide programme in controlling illegal drugs. The participants learned about the latest national regulations and respective government agencies’ preventive measures supporting the fight against illicit trafficking of drugs and chemical precursors.
"This workshop demonstrates the commitment of Uzbekistan and the OSCE for further enhancing mutual co-operation in combating the international narcotics trade,” said Jens Rasmussen, the Acting OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan.
The workshop is organized as part of a larger co-operation project between the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan and the National Information and Analytical Center on Drug Circulation.
