An assessment of substandard Roma settlements in 21 municipalities in Serbia was undertaken in order to define the list of priority measures that need to be implemented for the purpose of improving the living conditions in these settlements. This publication contains basic data on each settlement, with the list of priority activities and cost-estimations for their realization.

Interim Report and Recommendations of the Panel of Eminent Persons on European Security as a Common Project

As a first of its kind in the OSCE region, this study is concerned with the presence and operation of dedicated women’s parliamentary bodies (alternatively referred to as parliamentary structures for women members of parliament (MPs) that promote gender equality and women’s representation.

The overall objective of the “Best Practices for Roma Integration (BPRI)” project is to contribute to the integration of Roma minorities in the Western Balkans, in accordance with the beneficiaries’ commitments as OSCE participating States and perspective members of the European Union. This report intends to contribute to this overall objective by providing a situation anal¬ysis of the housing conditions of Roma in the Western Balkans and by documenting good learning practice on legalization of land and buildings, upgrading of (informal) Roma settlements and the provision of social housing.

This Handbook on Promoting Women’s Participation in Political Parties aims at encouraging political party leaders, men and women alike, to support the integration of gender aspects into internal political party decision-making processes. It also seeks to develop the capacity of women politicians to advance their political careers. The key finding that has emerged during the development of this handbook is that internal party reform is critical to women’s advancement. A lack of internal party democracy and transparency, the absence of gender-sensitivity in candidate selection and outreach, as well as the failure to decentralize party decision-making processes, all inhibit women’s opportunities to advance as leaders within parties and as candidates for elected office. To this end, the handbook provides a valuable overview of voluntary measures that political parties can adopt to enhance gender equality within party structures, processes, policies and activities, as a means to provide both women and men equal opportunities to participate meaningfully in the political life of OSCE participating States.

The new edition of the Safety of journalists Guidebook chronicles events undertaken by international organizations, governments and nongovernmental organizations to create a safer environment for members of the media since the original Guidebook was published in 2011.
