This document summarizes the recommendations of more than 60 journalists, representatives of government, civil society and academia from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan along with participants from Mongolia and international experts at the 18th annual Central Asian Media Conference, organized by the Office of the OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media on 13-14 December 2016 in Vienna, Austria.

Hate-motivated incidents are often violent manifestations of intolerance which instil fear and divide communities. Tackling underlying prejudice is essential in combating the spread of these divisive actions. The OSCE Mission to BiH supports the work of government institutions, the criminal justice system, local authorities and civil society to effectively respond to these incidents. The Hate Monitor provides a monthly update on incidents and responses throughout BiH.

Academics from disciplines such as history, political sciences, international relations, law, economy and other relevant areas of expertise are invited to submit abstract proposals by 30 June 2017.
