Head of OSCE Programme Office in Astana, György Szabó, awarded with certificate of appreciation for human rights promotion in Kazakhstan
The Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, Ambassador György Szabó, received a certificate of appreciation for the promotion of human rights in Kazakhstan on 7 December 2017.
The certificate was awarded by the Commission on Human Rights under the President of Kazakhstan in framework of a roundtable discussion, which took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Astana.
The event, dedicated to the upcoming International Human Rights Day, was attended by some 200 participants, including high-level government officials, members of parliament, and representatives of the judiciary, academia, civil society, foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations in Kazakhstan.
During the discussion, the participants touched upon topics such as the role of state bodies, international organizations and civil society institutions in the field of human rights protection, the international obligations of Kazakhstan in the field of human rights, the international and national standards for ensuring the right to receive information and legal protection of courts and lawyers.
The certificate commends the efforts of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana in supporting the organization of a series of training seminars in different regions of Kazakhstan. It also recognizes the Office’s role in assisting the host country in ensuring, protecting and promoting human rights in accordance with its national Constitution and international obligations.
