OSCE supports training workshop on risks management system in Kazakhstan
An OSCE-supported two-day training workshop on best practices for administering a risks management system at customs concluded on 30 November 2017 in Astana.
The event was organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana in partnership with Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee’s Training Centre for some 45 officials of central and local customs authorities from across the country.
The workshop focused on the operational aspects of risk profiling, the application of automated information technologies and the harmonization of import-export procedures. Participants also reviewed best international practices of risks management through application of the Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDA) software and discussed ways to enhance it by adapting it to country-specific customs administration procedures.
ASYCUDA is a computerized customs management system designed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development which covers most foreign trade procedures. In 2015 Kazakhstan’s State Revenue Committee decided to introduce ASYCUDA by developing the country-specific software “ASTANA 1”, which launched for beta testing in March 2017.
The workshop is part of the Programme Office’s multi-year efforts to assist the host country in promoting good governance and facilitating trade in the region.
