Annual report on OSCE court monitoring presented in Montenegro

Several court monitoring reports were presented at a conference in Montenegro on 10 June 2013.

The reports include the Annual Court Monitoring Report and two documents detailing the frequency of detention ordered by courts, their justification, as well as the monitoring of enforcement proceedings. They cover the High Courts in Podgorica and Bijelo Polje and all basic courts in Montenegro and serve as a tool for Montenegro’s judiciary to address potential shortcomings.

The documents were produced as part of the third phase of a Court Monitoring Project implemented by the OSCE Mission to Montenegro in partnership with the non-governmental organization, the Centre for Monitoring , and financed by the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany, France, the United States and the United Kingdom.

Conference participants included representatives of the diplomatic corps; court presidents; public prosecutors; officials of Montenegro’s Justice Ministry; the Bar Association; the Centre for Mediation of Montenegro; the Association of Expert Witnesses of Montenegro; and members of international organizations and civil society.
