Second annual Media Fellowship programme for young journalists launched by OSCE Mission in Kosovo
The second annual Media Fellowship, an initiative of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo to build the capacities of young journalists and establish a network of fellows from communities living in Kosovo, was launched on 17 April 2018.
Eight young journalists from different communities in Kosovo will be part of this year’s fellowship group, which begins in May and concludes in November 2018. They will be paired with last year’s OSCE Media Fellows and with established journalists, who will serve as mentors.
In late May, participants will attend a comparative assessment seminar which will take place in Prishtinë/Priština (two days) and Belgrade (two days). They will visit various media institutions, including journalists’ associations, public broadcasters and regulatory bodies, gaining first-hand experience of their functioning.
In addition, in late 2018, the Mission will facilitate a retreat for the 2017 and 2018 fellows and their mentors. One of the retreat’s activities will consist in drafting an action plan for the functioning of the Fellowship, which will eventually be administered by standing alumni, the OSCE Mission in Kosovo, and the two main associations of journalists in Kosovo.
