OSCE Chairperson condemns violence and encourages dialogue in Kosovo
VILNIUS, 28 July 2011 – The OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Ažubalis, today condemned recent violent incidents and encouraged dialogue in Kosovo.
“Such actions increase tensions and undermine the spirit of cooperation necessary for progress,” Ažubalis said. “I appeal for calm and call on all parties to work with KFOR and EULEX to restore a safe and secure environment.”
“I am encouraged by responsible public statements of leaders that appeal for calm and condemn violence.“
“The OSCE calls on both parties to return to the EU-led dialogue. Only through constructive dialogue can disputes be settled and the lives of ordinary people be improved. OSCE supports its international partners, and the OSCE Mission in Kosovo will continue its important work fostering reconciliation among all communities,“ said Ažubalis.
The recent events in Kosovo were discussed today at the OSCE Permanent Council in Vienna.
