OSCE trains Kyrgyzstan’s law enforcement officers on information analysis
BISHKEK, 20 October 2011 – A two-week training course on the use of information analysis methods organized by the OSCE Centre in Bishkek started today in Bishkek.
Some 20 participants from Kyrgyzstan’s law-enforcement agencies, such as the State National Security Committee, Border Troops, State Customs Service, State Finance Intelligence Service and State Service of Drug Control, will enhance their theoretical and practical knowledge in information analysis.
The interactive training sessions are designed and delivered by a trainer from the UK, a member of the international Association of Law Enforcement Intelligence Analysts. The course covers such topics as critical and logical thinking, association and flow chart analysis, strategic analysis, data collection and information management.
Lilian Darii, the Deputy Head of the OSCE Centre in Bishkek, said: “This event will not only help various law enforcement agencies from Kyrgyzstan in using modern methods of information analysis, but will also help to improve co-operation between them.”
Bakytbek Alisherov, the Chief of the Department of International Co-operation of Kyrgyzstan’s State Customs Service, noted: “This training is timely and necessary for our institutions, given that the new study process for Kyrgyzstan’s customs officers is to start on January 2012. After the course, the trained members of the operational and managerial staff will report the results to the senior management, who, in turn, will use them for implementing amendments to the curriculum of the Customs Training Centre. Therefore this course and the next one held in the ‘training of trainers’ format will help us modernize the current curriculum and enrich it with the most efficient contemporary methods and best international practices.”
