OSCE supports energy efficiency workshops for secondary school teachers in Kazakhstan
An OSCE-supported training seminar on energy efficiency and energy saving for some 70 secondary school teachers took place on 4 November 2016 in Uralsk, Kazakhstan.
The event was the last in a series of three educational seminars in the western part of the country that focused on the Kazakh-language speakers of Atyrau, Mangystau and Western Kazakhstan regions.
The series was supported by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana in partnership with the Education and Science Ministry, the non-governmental organization Human Health Institute, the Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature and Ecoobraz, a public association dealing with environmental education.
In total, some 190 secondary school teachers of geography, biology, information technology and elementary curricula focused on environmental challenges and the ways to address them through a more sustainable use of natural resources. The programme emphasized the use of green technologies at schools and households, as well as on effective teaching methods for students about environmental issues.
The workshops fall in line with the Office’s long-term efforts at promoting renewable energy and green growth policies in the host country and are a follow-up of last year’s initiative for the Russian-speaking population.
