OSCE supports study visit of Kazakhstan’s delegation to the EU Emergency Response Centre
A group of five high-level officials from Kazakhstan’s Committee of Emergency Situations of Interior Ministry concluded an OSCE-supported study visit to the European Commission’s Emergency Response Co-ordination Centre (ERCC) in Brussels on 17 November 2015.
The visit, which was organized with support of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana and Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry, aimed to familiarize the delegation with best practices in the areas of preparedness, emergency response and recovery related to environmental and industrial disasters and hazards. The delegation learned about establishing appropriate partnerships and promoting initiatives in order to facilitate the disaster management process and introduce good governance standards based on the ERCC’s experience in this area.
The visit is part of the Programme Office’s long-standing efforts to promote best practices in disaster management and risk reduction through sound planning, governance and inter-state co-operation.
