OSCE supports energy efficiency workshop for secondary school teachers in Kazakhstan
An OSCE-supported training seminar on the topic of energy efficiency for school teachers took place on 9 November 2015 in Oskemen, Kazakhstan. The event was the last in a series of three sessions that trained over 300 secondary school teachers from Astana, Almaty and the Eastern Kazakhstan region.
The events were organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana in partnership with the Education and Science Ministry, the non-governmental organization Human Health Institute, the Norwegian Society for the Conservation of Nature, the public association Ecoobraz and the National Company Astana Expo-2017.
The programme introduced teachers to energy-saving tools that can be used in everyday life by putting an emphasis on using green technologies at schools and households, as well as effective methods to teach students about environmental issues.
The training seminars were geared to teachers of geography, biology, information technology and elementary classes. They aimed to promote an energy-saving culture among the students.
The event is part of the OSCE Programme Office’s activities aimed at awareness-raising on sustainable development among youth in Kazakhstan and falls in line with the priority of the 2014 Swiss and 2015 Serbian OSCE Chairmanships on engaging youth.
