OSCE Programme Office supports meeting of the Human Dimension Working Group in Kazakhstan
The OSCE Programme Office in Astana supported the joint meeting on 28 October 2015 in Astana of the working group and subgroups of the Consultative and Advisory Body on the Human Dimension under the Foreign Ministry.
The event was co-organized by the OSCE Programme Office in Astana in partnership with the Kazakhstan International Bureau for Human Rights and Rule of Law for some 30 state officials, parliamentarians, human rights activists as well as representatives of non-governmental and international organizations.
Participants discussed the activities of the Consultative and Advisory Body working group and its subgroups on the development of democracy, the rule of law, fundamental human rights and freedoms as well as public participation in the legislative process. They agreed to continue dialogue on updating the list of recommendations jointly developed by the Human Dimension Working Group members and to promote the co-ordinated policy on implementation of agreed recommendations.
A set of proposals in relation to the action plan developed by the host country on implementing recommendations under the Universal Periodic Review on Human Rights for 2015-2018 were also presented at the event.
The event is part of the Office’s long-standing efforts to assist the host country in strengthening human rights, fundamental freedoms and the rule of law.
